Amesbury is a small Toronto neighbourhood of wooded lots and hilly terrain, distinctly different from the flat topography of the metropolitan area. Amesbury is part of the district of North York, Ontario. Homes for sale in Amesbury capitalize on the community’s impressive natural setting, convenient location and easy accessibility by public transit or private vehicle.

Black Creek Drive cuts through the neighbourhood and allows motorists to connect to Highways 401 and 400. Buses operated by the Toronto Transit Commission provide service on local roads culminating in the subway stations of the Yonge-University-Spadina line and the Bloor-Danforth line. A rush-hour only bus service provides another transit option along Gulliver Road, Maple Leaf Drive and Culford Road.

The boundaries of Amesbury are not firm. Lawrence Avenue defines the northern border while Jane Street and a section of Canadian Railroad tracks border the western edge. The southern boundary is a water right-of-way while Keele Street marks the eastern boundary. 

The first 
homes in Amesbury were built in the 1950s and 1960s. These houses were mostly brick bungalows and a limited number of semi-detached homes. Properties are well-maintained and beautifully landscaped east of Black Creek Drive. Homes for sale in Amesbury west of Black Creek Drive are smaller and more affordable. Housing for veterans dating back to the 1940s and intended mainly for returning military personnel and their families are still the most common type of dwelling in the area near Harding Park. 

Amesbury students are zoned for three elementary schools, three Catholic elementary schools and a public high school. Post-secondary choices include York University, Humber College, University of Toronto and Sheridan College. 

Five parks are within Amesbury territory including a section of the Westview Greenbelt. Amesbury Park on Lawrence Avenue features sports facilities, a community centre and seasonal amenities like an ice arena. Similar facilities are also available on Eglinton. Residents have access to a paved running and walking pathway next to Black Creek.

Shopping options include Black Creek Plaza, North Park Plaza and the Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
