The Clanton Park neighbourhood is a Toronto community located between Earl Bales Park on the east, Downsview Park and Downsview Airport on the east. The specific boundaries are Bathurst Street on the east, Sheppard Avenue on the north and the Highway 401 Interchange on the south.

The neighbourhood is northwest of downtown Toronto. The population is culturally diverse with a significant portion being Jewish or immigrants from Italy, Russia and the Philippines. Residents of this area tend toward a younger, working-age demographic ; the major draws are the community’s proximity to the downtown district, excellent access to Ontario’s network of highways and the presence of a reliable public transit service.

Clanton Park homes range from 1950s detached structures in modest bungalow style and fairly new mid-rise condominium apartments. Detached homes are built on suburban lots with at least 60 feet of frontage and private driveways. High-rise buildings are restricted in this area because of its proximity to the Downsview Airport.

Balmoral is a fairly new housing development of 173 homes located near Wilson Street, a short walk from the Downsview subway station. The area has a homeowners’ association that is highly involved in community affairs to promote community issues.

Schools zoned for Clanton Park are managed by the Toronto District School Board. These schools include Dublin Heights and Faywood Arts-Based Curriculum School along with St. Robert Catholic School. The Toronto Heschel School is one of several Jewish learning centres in the area.

Residents shop at Yorkdale Mall on the south and the retail strip on Bathurst Avenue that include Bathurst Manor and Sheppard Plaza. Outdoor recreation includes the multi-activity amenities of Earl Bales Park, Parc Downsview and Don Valley Golf Course.

The Canadian Air & Space Museum in nearby Downsview is a showcase of Canadian contributions to the aerospace industry starting from the 1930s when de Havilland Aircraft of Canada became a top supplier of military and civilian aircraft and parts.

Clanton Park is one of Toronto’s emerging neighbourhoods.
