The Township of King, Ontario is north of Toronto and south of Barrie. It is part of York Region and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). King real estate is mostly rural with the exception of the communities of King City, Schomberg and Nobleton where the population density is higher. With its location on the slopes of Oak Ridges Moraine and the wetlands of Holland Marsh, King Township is blessed with rich agricultural land. King is known for horse farms and cattle ranches.

King City is the largest and most populated area. King homes have opened up in new housing developments in recent years because of the growing population. King North and King Dufferin are two of the newer and larger large townhouse and single detached residential developments. Even in hilly and forested Nobleton, housing developments like the Hamleys have sprung up in response to the influx of new residents seeking a more bucolic lifestyle.

Schomberg is an older area of King Township where many of the residents are descendants of the original families that settled the area. King real estate in this part consists of large estates although affordable homes can be found in Breedon Manor and the newer Laurier Homes close to Highway 27. Schomberg is home to the longest running fair in Canada, the Schomberg Agricultural Fair scheduled in May every year.

Smaller settlements included in the township of King are Glenville, Laskay, Snowball, Elm Pine Trail, New Scotland, Linton and Holly Park. These areas are sparsely populated. King homes in smaller settlements are mostly low density housing.

York Region District School Board and the York Catholic District School Board oversee public schools in King. King City Secondary School is the only public high school in the area. However,a Catholic school and a private high school have campuses in King.

The township sponsors many activities for residents and visitors. These events include farmers’ markets, dragon boat festivals, garden tours, craft and agricultural fairs and studio tours to meet local artists.

King is linked to Toronto and surrounding areas through Highways 400, 27, 9 and 11. York Region Transit operates buses on local routes while GO Transit links the township via train and bus to other metropolitan areas.

King Township is quaint and quiet, yet it is so close to the cosmopolitan centres of Greater Toronto.
