It is thought this area is named for Windfield Farms, where the famous horse, Northern Dancer was born. St. Andrew homes are comprised of impressive properties as well as more modest residences and an abundance of green space. Shopping, although not found right in the neighbourhood, can be done on Bayview.

Highway 401 defines the northern border of this district and the Don River East Branch is the eastern border. To the west, Yonge Street is the boundary and to the south, York Mills Road.
